I started watching the series in April 2023 and just finished episode 1172, for an average rate of ~0.97 episodes a day. What an incredible journey!

I originally set out to do watch this when I started diving in to Lawvere’s and Schanuel’s “Conceptual Mathematics”. I wanted to develop a routine for myself, I started each morning with a single episode before getting into my math for the day. This habit lasted almost 2 years, until January 1st of 2025 when life decided it had other plans for me. My One Piece supply ran dry while a new job took over my study time.

The study time still hasn’t quite returned yet, but a balanced budget has its own merits. Later that year I found myself subbing to Crunchy Roll for Guilty Gear Dual Rulers. Lo and behold, One Piece was back on the menu! Well, along with more anime than I could possibly ask for. I was able to resume my catching up with more liberty. I wanted to keep myself close to a “one a day” average, but being behind schedule opened up new options. I was now able binge a bunch of episodes at once, find something else to watch for a while, and then come back to it at my discretion.

I probably could have planned this out to catch up at a once-a-day average with more precision, but that kind of feels like cheating when the whole goal of task was to do things in moderation. Besides, I didn’t really keep track of the special episodes so there’s always a little error margin in measurement anyway. Getting caught up at all seems like an accomplishment
